Who We Are

  • What is the GoodGiving Challenge

Since 2011, the GoodGiving Challenge has rallied our community in support of our region's hardworking nonprofit organizations. Thanks to generous donors like you, the Challenge has raised nearly $20 million for hundreds of local charitable causes!

The 13th Annual GoodGiving Challenge will take place from 9am on Tuesday, November 28 through 11:59pm on Friday, December 1.

Blue Grass Community Foundation will provide toolkits, training sessions, outreach support, mass media, and social media coverage as well as Challenge grants and match prizes to make it easy for all nonprofits to participate. Each participating organization will have an individualized web page to promote its cause.

Individuals can donate money to the nonprofit organizations of their choice starting November 28 at 9am. All donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable. Donors will receive a receipt for their gift via email. The nonprofit will receive contact information for each donor unless the donor elects to remain anonymous.

  • Who are the hosts?

    Blue Grass Community Foundation

Blue Grass Community Foundation is where people go to give to enhance the quality of life in Central and Appalachia Kentucky. We connect charitable individuals, families, businesses, communities and nonprofit organizations with causes they care about to meet community needs and make a difference.

We were founded in 1967 by visionary Lexington couple Irene and C.W. Sulier, who created a permanent endowment for our community with simple aspirations: they hoped their fund would grow to support diverse community needs over time and that others with charitable intent might join them. Their dreams have been more than realized. In the past 50+ years, we have grown from one charitable fund to over 800, each with its own unique charitable purpose. Charitable assets total more than $200 million. Most importantly, the Community Foundation, in partnership with our generous donors, has awarded more than $160 million in grants.

Whether it's establishing a charitable fund, supporting your favorite local causes in the GoodGiving Challenge, or participating in one of our many community events and initiatives, your involvement can lead to a stronger, more vibrant, more generous community for all. Smiley Pete Publishing

Smiley Pete Publishing began as a single community publication in 1997. College buddies Chris Eddie and Chuck Creacy started Chevy Chaser Magazine while working as pizza delivery drivers. They got to know Lexington's neighborhoods and began hand-delivering magazines to local residents.

Since then, Smiley Pete Publishing has become a growing family of print and online publications that specialize in locally-focused content. All Smiley Pete publications, initiatives, and events have a common goal: to serve the needs and interests of readers and to continue to make Lexington a community of diverse people and organizations who strive for positive change and great quality of life.
